================================================================================ The complete C64 music collection Jens-Christian Huus ================================================================================ Music for the game "Orcus", 1990. This directory contains all the music for "Orcus" except the level-music which was put in a seperate directory. The music for the game "Orcus" was ordered by a guy in England who told me that the game would be much better than any sideways shoot'em up's previously seen on the C64. Because I believed him I made an extra effort out of the tunes for this game which I expected to be my final breakthrough. Time went by and the programmer for the game lost all interest in the game, leaving me with a whole bunch of unused tunes. Take my advice as a musician for computers today; NEVER EVER make music for private people! It HAS to be for software houses, complete with a contract and everything. Deadlines is a nasty thing to work with, but it makes sure the game is actually RELEASED in the end... ================================================================================ CONGRAT.DAT Congratulations The end-of-game congratulations tune. It sounds a little bit sad for its kind, but I think it would have worked anyway. INTRO.DAT Intro This tune is one of my favourites of all the music I did. It uses a nice set of double voice drums and a funky style. I especially like the part from 02:37 to 03:07. On the real C64, the filtering gives the snaredrum a really good sound. Both this tune and the loader music reuses notes which I originally composed in the titletune for the game. At the time of doing the music for the game, I thought it would be a nice touch if a main theme could be heard throughout the game - just like on the movies! :) LOADER.DAT Loader A very weird theme for the tape loader - it uses parts of the same composition as the titletune uses. It really needs a lot of filtering on a real C64. MAIN.DAT Demo/Hiscore/Title The music block for the main game program - (1) is the in-game demonstration tune, (2) is the hiscore and (3) is the title. The titletune goes into a part at 01:05 which I didn't like at the time of composing it. Still, this part contains the notes I reused in some of the other "Orcus" tunes. At 02:30 the tune becomes much more interesting as it enters a part with hard synchronization. The full length of the titletune is 04:19. BONUS.DAT Bonus Game Four tunes in this one - (1) is bonus ready, (2) is bonus goal and (3) is bonus over, all jingles. (4) is the actual bonus game track. ================================================================================
