================================================================================ The complete C64 music collection Jens-Christian Huus ================================================================================ Level-music for the game "Orcus", 1990. This directory only contains all the level-specific music for "Orcus" the game. All the level blocks you find in this directory contains 6 tunes. Only tunes on (5) and (6) differs from block to block since these were the in-game and end-of-level-monster tunes. (1) is "get ready", (2) is "game over", (3) "shop" tune" and (4) is the "cop ditty". The descriptions below will only discuss the in-game and EOLM tunes. I have arranged it so that SidPlay plays the in-game tune as default when choosing the DAT-files. Note that I swapped the meaning of keys (5) and (6) in "Slimy One", here (6) is in fact the in-game tune. ================================================================================ ATMOSPHE.DAT Atmosphere Listen to the funny leader from 00:10. The EOLM tune is very atmospheric. A sound in it resembles a closet being moved! ;) BACKHOME.DAT Back Home Heavy tunes using a double voice snaredrum and a leader using fake portamento. DARKLORD.DAT Dark Lord Probably the only tune I ever did in three-four time. The EOLM tune is extremely atmospheric. There's a nice deep effect with ring modulation which sounds a little like a distant boom... FUNKLVL.DAT Funk Level A funky piece using four-fingered chords, something that I rarely used on the C64. The EOLM tune is very short. GIVITUP.DAT Giv'it Up Funny tune with a ring modulation experiment. If you listen closely, you can hear it say "Give it up" - I thought it would be a nice touch while shooting down enemies in the game! The ring modulation effects appears from 00:16. GUITARIN.DAT Guitaring On the real C64 I used filtering on the leader to emulate a real guitar. The EOLM tune is a very funny "major" version. Imagine a funny monster which looks like a clown! ;) That tune is a conversion of a song which my brother and I used to hum when we were kids... KLINGONZ.DAT Klingonzo Lots of baby-organ sounds in this one. ;) ORCUSHIO.DAT Orcushion Cute in-game tune. OUWALIEN.DAT Ouw Alien Notice how the alien "talks" in the end-of-level-monster tune. SCARYEND.DAT Scary End I especially like the intro on the in-game song. The EOLM tune builds up slowly to make the EOLM feel tougher and tougher. SLIMY_ON.DAT Slimy One This one sounds very standard. ================================================================================
